My new happy place?

Thanks to @Justin_Zobel for a point in the right direction, forgive the image quality but I literally installed, updated and just wanted to see if i could get it to work so I took it with my phone.

I’ll never say I won’t get antsy or something in plasma won’t pull me back but Solus + Budgie + slingshot + Nemo might just actually equal my home…at least for now lol

Care to throw up a guide so other’s can compile it? I can help refine it if you want. It could probably even be packaged and put in the Ashtray repository.

Sure,
Add the ashtray repo (don’t have that command handy at the minute)
install git
install -c system.devel
install vala libgee-devel libgtk-3-devel libsoup-devel appstream-devel libjson-glib-devel zeitgeist-devel libgnome-menus-devel budgie-desktop-devel plank-devel
git clone https://GitHub.com/ubuntubudgie/applications-menu
cd applications-menu
meson build --prefix=/usr
cd build
ninja
sudo ninja install

sudo eopkg add-repo streambinder https://solus.davidepucci.it/eopkg-index.xml.xz
sudo eopkg install -c system.devel git vala libgee-devel libgtk-3-devel libsoup-devel appstream-devel libjson-glib-devel zeitgeist-devel libgnome-menus-devel budgie-desktop-devel plank-devel granite-devel
git clone https://GitHub.com/ubuntubudgie/applications-menu
cd applications-menu
meson build --prefix=/usr
cd build
ninja
sudo ninja install

One tidy guide. I might give it a try later.

Edit: Added granite-devel to dependency list.

@MikeNY I added granite-devel to dependency install list as it was needed.

Figured writing on my phone I’d miss something

All good.

I couldn’t find it at the start in the list of applets, it’s called App Menu just FYI for anyone wanting to try it.

Just noticed a small glitch just to let anyone who does try this out on Solus, software center doesn’t seem to show up in grid view but it does show up in category view, not a major issue as it does come up in search. Not really sure why but there probably is a fix for it.

Thank you Mike and Justin for doing this. I have to say I love that Budgie added this menu and I hope it becomes the default
