2020 Linux Highlights

As the sun sets on what can best be described as a tumultuous year, I thought it would be nice to reflect on what people consider have been the highlights of 2020 in the Linux and FOSS world. It could be a mixture of Linux news and/or personal Linux achievements. Let’s keep it positive as I think everyone has enough to worry about. For me, the highlights would include:

  1. Lenovo partnering with Ubuntu and Fedora
  2. Fedora 33 release
  3. Both Ubuntu .04 and .10 releases
  4. The arrival of Edge browser (and what it means for MS placing the Linux desktop as a priority)
  5. I managed to learn quite a few new things to beef up my scripting chops
  6. I managed to install Gentoo for the first time (although I don’t think I’ll be doing this again anytime soon)
  7. I started playing around with Docker containers, using Portainer on an Ubuntu Server

Love to hear what others’ highlights have been
